Seasonal, well hung meat with unparalleled flavour, sourced from the wilds of Britain - delivered to your door.
The Blackface Meat Company believes passionately in the link between a healthy landscape and the highest quality meat. The two are so closely bound that the flavour of their products is of the land itself: the heather and the berries; the wild grasses and fresh waters of the burns and streams found in the most beautiful, unspoilt regions of Britain. Blackface Meat Company are a family business, rearing Blackface sheep and Galloway cattle on their farm in the South West of Scotland, allowing the sheep to roam over 6000 acres of heather hills. They source slow grown ‘Iron Age’ pork and poultry from nearby farms plus wild game.

It has taken Alan Coxon a decade to create and perfect his vinegars. The lengthy research, even down to the development of the bottle design, all carried out by Alan, prompted him to remortgage his house. It has been a long hard road, but his determination has finally brought to fruition some truly special products. .

On one of our recent food finding trips, we finally got to see Handmade by Hadley’s Ice Cream Dub and bought ourselves some ice cream. We chose Raspberries & Cream and Pistachio – these were served in Hadley's very patriotic British pots complete with colour coordinated spoons to match the ice cream.

Peachey's Preserves are the real deal. Only the best ingredients go into each jar, much of them sourced and grown locally (they are based in Alburgh, Norfolk). The label says 'handmade' and the ingredients list could easily be understood by your grandmother..

When you're a food producer travelling around selling your wares, there comes a time when the transport operation may need to be simplified. Most producers usually have a van to carry their produce and equipment including a gazebo of some sort and some may even need to cart around a chiller or freezer cabinet. This is a little different.

The Artisan Food Trail spent a day at Samphire’s smallholding open day a few weeks ago. The weather on the day was fabulous, although touch and go the days before. If you didn’t go then here’s a few pictures of what you missed - we’d recommend checking their website to see if any dates are up for next year’s event yet.

Congratulations to all of the producers on The Artisan Food Trail who entered the Great Taste Awards 2012.Together there are 14 producers, 33 awards and 47 stars!

Many things are easy to take for granted, foodstuffs especially so. Most of us don’t have to think an awful lot before we put something into our mouths and many certainly don’t need to consider whether it may be harmful to their wellbeing. Living gluten free is not always as straightforward as it should be as so many foods contain gluten from various sources, wheat being the most known. There is much confusion concerning the subject, so we found out more from AFT’s Industry Expert, Priya Tew of Dietitian UK, to get the facts straight.

Win a SuperFast Thermapen Cooking Thermometer from TomsGadgets.com
This ergonomic, water resistant and stylish kitchen acessory is called 'superfast' for a reason - it can read temperatures in just 4 seconds!
Chefs, cooks and caterers have been using colour-coding for chopping boards and knives for many years now. Maybe now is the time to update your thermometers with the colour-coded SuperFast Thermapens. Reading temperatures in just 4 seconds could save you from disaster when tempering chocolate and stopping your sugar turning to toffee when you don't want it to.

We had some freshly picked Poblanos this time last year from Edible Ornamentals and thought it was time to share this recipe again with you.
When you’ve stuffed your Poblanos, what better way to top them off than with a Roasted Tomatillo Salsa.
If you like the sound of these recipes, we’ve got more on our blog and over on our website, along with free downloadable recipe cards for each.
