Old Hall Farm
We are a micro-dairy and growing farm shop, specialising in the production and sale of raw Jersey milk, cream and butter from our happy cows who keep their calves ‘at foot’.
The Mayhew family have farmed in Woodton since the mid 1940s, and started out with a small suckler cow herd, chickens for egg production, and pig rearing, as well as farming over 500 acres of arable land.
Whilst on a family holiday in 2016, Stuart and Rebecca Mayhew spent time on a friend’s dairy unit in Scotland and fell in love with the idea of having their own herd of Jersey cattle. Their first cow, Freya arrived in November 2016 and they haven’t looked back since.
The idea for our business was born out of a love for Jersey cows and everything we do is influenced by this. We use simple artisan processes for all of our products, and believe in quality over quantity.
After opening the micro-dairy shop in a rather basic ‘milk shed’ in May 2017, we completed building work on a run down traditional brick and tile outbuilding, and since August 2017 have begin to expand our range slowly, to include milk fed pork, lamb, free range rainbow eggs, and a small range of locally produced jams, honey, chutney, breads and so forth.
Plans for greater expansion are afoot with planning consent having been approved late in 2017 for a farm shop extension and 35 seat cafe, and vines for a 6 acre vineyard having been purchased.
