Welcome to June 2016 from The Artisan Food Trail.

The weather hasn’t been great over the last few weeks (we’ve had to bail out our own home after recent local storms) and with Wimbledon here we can usually expect more wet days. This does mean though, that with a good watering, the crops in the garden are flourishing and fresh ingredients are making their way to the table. We’re still smelling barbecues lighting up and the aroma of cooked foods wafting across from neighbours' houses.

With all of this in mind, we’ve a summer-themed newsletter this month for you as we hear from Yorkshire Wagyu and their burgers, Hibiscus Lily gets approval for their jellies (barbecued lamb would be a great accompaniment), more on Blossoms Syrups and Susannah's Sauces, Lewis of London and our own Beetroot Veggie Burgers.

Capsicana celebrates their Cook Sauce launch into Waitrose on the 4th July with a great give-away competition and news of upcoming events.

Hibiscus Lily jellies
for juicy lamb
Even the best grilled meat needs a good accompaniment either to enhance, counterbalance or complement it. Sweet, spicy and tangy flavours are always a welcome addition, particularly the jellies from Hibiscus Lily.

Salmon Goujons for Dipping
After initially tasting the Succulent Tomato Sauce from Susannah’s Sauces we were thinking about how best to use it, as it tasted so good. The first thing that sprang to mind was fish and chips

Halloumi
Lentil Salad
Halloumi cheese is a magical substance as it does not melt when you cook it, so is perfect for frying. This produces a lovely crispy exterior with soft, warm milky interior. This dish uses Lewis of London Halloumi.

Super Beetroot
Veggie Burgers
For vegetarians and observers of ‘Meat-Free Monday’, these burgers are delicious and satisfying plus they look good too with their purply-pink hue.
And why do we call them ‘super’? Well, they’re decently packed with healthy ingredients, so they have to be good for you.
