Lawn Collection teabags – The Artisan Food Trail

Lots of tea drinking has been going on here at The Artisan Food Trail where we’ve been sampling the delights of some Lawn Collection teabags.

The Lawn Collection produces range of tea blends as well as infusions in loose leaf or teabag varieties. Our taste tests proved them to be quite distinct in flavour and character.

For us, The Lawn Collection tea brand conjures up spring time or long summer days in an English country garden, petals blowing in the breeze and the smell of freshly mown grass. Whatever halcyon moments are recalled, these teas are for enjoying in a relaxed fashion while you take time out to meditate over the fine flavours.

The teabags are packed into cardboard cartons with a viewing window so that the pretty teas can be appreciated before purchase.
Each box is printed with a subtle graphic pattern echoing a classic cotton textile design.

Our first set of three teas came in pyramid teabag form, which incidentally, are fully biodegradable and always a plus point in our view as we can happily chuck them in the compost bin after use.

Royal Tea – Earl Grey teabags
Rhubarb Patch – Rooibos Tea teabags

Let’s get brewing the Lawn Collection teabags…

Lawn Classic – English Breakfast teabags

This is an everyday, anytime type of tea made from a blend of Assam and Kenyan tea. It is properly thirst quenching and reviving.

Brewing to a deep golden russet colour, the taste is smooth with only a slight yet agreeable bitterness.

Their is an underlying pleasant sour yet fruity note which is somewhat zesty for a truly refreshing and enjoyable brew with a splash of milk.

Royal Tea – Earl Grey teabags

On opening the packet this version of Earl Grey is extremely aromatic with the wonderful perfume of bergamot and rose. Through the teabag the addition of pink rose and blue cornflower petals can be clearly seen.

Brewing to a russet brown the Sri Lankan Uva tea leaves swell considerably delivering a good all round flavour. It is equally good with or without milk depending on your preference.

It is very different to most Earl Grey teas and has an incredible exotic taste and smell evocative of the Middle East. The delicate bitter notes of Bergamot orange marry well with the flowery perfume for an altogether dreamy tea experience.

Rhubarb Patch – Rooibos & Rhubarb teabags

Rooibos is a type of ‘tea’ from a South African plant, sometimes known as redbush, which is naturally free from caffeine making this an ideal alternative for those wishing to avoid stimulants.

First, we’ll be honest in saying that our previous experiences with other Rooibos teas were not that great. However, things changed at first sip of The Lawn Collection’s offering.

To mix it up a little, The Lawn Collection have added some rhubarb and ginger to theirs. These two foods are known to pair exceptionally well and when added to Rooibos it is a taste sensation.

There’s also a touch of hibiscus and lime leaf which makes for a deeply fruity and tangy cup with a warming tingle from the ginger.

It can be served with milk added but we preferred it without for a light and refreshing drink.

All in all we can honestly say that you can really taste the quality in The Lawn Collection tea. It is obvious that a lot of care and expert blending has gone in to creating them.

We have also reviewed other varieties of loose teas from The Lawn Collection which you can read here.
